we've got cold water again

and for only $50 deductible. the parts alone cost $80 and the labor because it was such a tough job would have been quite a bit i'm sure. the guy came last friday to fix our faucets in the tubs, but did not have the parts he needed to do the job, so he came back today with the correct parts and though it took him a while to do a fairly simple job, it is finished. since the water had been turned off for so long while the sellers were trying to sell this house, a piece in the faucets got dry and swelled. he almost didn't get the one upstairs removed. i was very impressed with his patience. it only took about 5 minutes on the downstairs tub, but it took over an hour on the one upstairs. he was so patient and persistent. he finally got it all out and replaced the part. now, for the first time since we moved in this house, we have cold water in the tubs. we used to have to draw the bath water and let it sit for about an hour or add several pots full of cold water from the sink. now, all we have to do is turn on the faucet!!!!!!! how exciting! i know you are all sharing with my joy right now, hehehehehe! (you're thinking "this girl is either nuts or gets excited way too easily.") but imagine every night giving your children a bath and having to remember to draw the bath an hour before you were ready for it, and then having to run back and forth between the tub and the sink for warm water to rinse them off with. i've been doing this for 4 1/2 months. i know, it was fairly simple and all i had to do was call the home owners warranty people to make the request. i just didn't have it in me to do ANYTHING there for quite some time. now it is done and we are all excited.
the kids were good today. we played dora candyland that they got for christmas. they were pretty good at it, surprisingly. anna won once and micah won, like, 4 times. i never won and it wasn't because i was trying to let them win!
rebekah is starting to talk and understand what she is saying. she really gets into pat a cake and the itsy bitsy spider using her little fingers and rooling it all up. other than da da da da, she is now saying bye bye and waving her hand. it is really sweet. she is trying really hard to say paw paw. but the funniest thing is (and i can't believe i am telling this on us, but...) bret has this saying, "you know what...chicken butt.." where it came from...who knows. well, behind closed doors we do this all the time, but we use all sorts of words and made up words that rhyme. like, you know tommy...chicken mommy. you know patty...chicken daddy. silly and probably going to come back to haunt us in the not so distant future, but the kids laugh hysterically when we do this. bekah has learned to laugh when she hears "you know what?" it is so funny to say it to her and watch her laugh. oh well. it is cute. ya'll take care. have a wonderful day,
