lots has been happening since my last post. tuesday morning we got up, were getting ready to go to church for ladies bible study and when bret went upstairs to get rebekah, i heard him yell out "oh, man!" i waited, thinking whatever it is, he can handle it. (something i would have never done with my first baby!!) soon avter, micah comes running in my room and says "bekah got sick!!!" i ran upstairs and sometime during the night she had gotten sick and never made a sound about it. how pitiful!!! we got her a warm bath and warm clothes. she was shivering and burning up with fever. i held her most of the day. she was some better by nightfall, so i thought whe would be better this morning. Nope! she was still running fever and sickly in the eyes. i called the doctors office to see if it could be that her ear infections were not healing properly and if the medicine was causing her upset stomach. well, they wanted to see her, of course. i made a 3:40 appt.
while all of this is going on, i have been preparing for an all women's bible class i was supposed to teach tonight(wednesday). selfishly, this was a very important thing for me. jit was a chance to show the women of the church who i am and what i can do. you see, since we moved form KY, i have had a hard time finding what i need to do in church. before, there were so many things that i had to do that i always felt important to the church body. when we moved and bret changed ministries, i no longer had a role at church. bret did not need help in his ministry from me. he was perfectly capable of doing worship ministry without me as opposed to youth ministry wheich required the both of us to be inrticately involved. well, over the last two years here, i was pregnant, on bed rest, and going through major depression caused by my graves disease. i a just now beginning to feel like becoming an intricate part of preston road. well, the minister's wives are teaching the women this quarter on wednesday nights about women in the bible. tonight was my night to be responsible for and i really wanted it to be good. i know that is selfish, but this was sort of like my forst impression. i wanted to seem dependable, capable and creative as a teacher. well, when rebekah woke up sick again this morning i knoew i could not take her to church tonight. bret could not keep her because he had praise team rehearsal. i spent most of the morning changing my line up for the evening trying to make it so it was not cecessary that i be there. i had a short skit already planned and one other woman (fran armour who has her masters in theology!!!) was going to be sharing 3-5 minutes on elizabeth. i just about had everything worked out where i didn't have to be there and then suzanne sager, our minister's wife said. let me keep rebekah for you and you teach. you deserve to get to teach it since you have put in all the time studying and preparing for it. at first, i did not accept the offer. i did not want she or her family getting sick. she continued to assure me that if they were going to get it, they were going to get it. her kids were going to be in class anyway, so they would not be exposed. that was one of the sweetest things that has been done for me in a long time. she understood how i felt. i guess being a minister's wife is something that when you are one, you understand how the others feel and where they are coming from. i really appreciated it. even though it was hard and a little stressful, it was very gratifying to teach that class. something i have not felt in a LONG time. PLEASE pray that suzanne and her family do not catch aour stomach bug. i pray God protects them from it because of her selfless act to help me!!!!!
as for the rest of my family, i am afraid bret and micah are going to be the next victims of this relentless stomach bug. niether of them felt very well as they headed to bed tonight. stange how.....never mind, i won't press my luck. thank you lord for my health. please continue to keep me well so i can take care of my family.
take care blog family!

"do you not know? have you not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. he will not tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. he gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumle and fall; but hose who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

I am so glad it worked out for you to teach!! Sometimes we moms are such matyrs about our kids that it costs us our mental health!! We feel like we are always just about keeping children happy. The line between who we are and "Mommy" gets very blurred. I hope you felt valuable in the grown-up world and I am happy for you.
Oh, I'm so glad God worked it out for you! I understand! Mommies need to have some sort of outlet, besides the kids, to keep from going totally crazy... that's part of the reason I sold Creative Memories when mine were younger. Now that they're older, I have some more freedom to "get out", which I greatly appreciate! But one of the reasons I enjoy blogging is so I can still have a creative outlet with no strings attached! I'm glad you have something like that again, and I know the ladies loved it; you are so creative.
I hope sweet Bekah gets better quickly!
Hugs,
Sandy
Summer,
Well your class was wonderful. You're great at getting up there in front of everyone. It was so insightful and kept my attention while teaching something; a hard balance to achieve. Just wanted to be sure you knew. Love you,
Tricia
