isaiah 40: 28-31

"do you not know? have you not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. he will not tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. he gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumle and fall; but hose who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

fun in the sun

we had ryan and lesli and maria over for italian beef sandwiches last night. they turned out well. marc and john k. went to little rock to pick up maria's mother's trailor. her van was not "strong enough" to carry it. they left around 3pm and returned around 3 am. that's a good son-in-law and friend. i hope maria's mother made it safely home. i haven't heard yet.
also, yesterday was our nephew's birthday. i think he is turning 11. he is getting so old. when bret and i first met, he was a baby! happy birthday christopher!
i took the kids swimming today. it was a very nice day for being in the water. they all seemed to love it. we got there about 10:45 and left around 12:45. they didn't want to leave, but we needed to eat some lunch and i think rebekah, though she was happy as a lark, had had all she needed of the heat. it is a really nice baby pool with blue canopies over it to protect the babies from the sun. it goes from a few inches of water for wading to about 3 ft. they love it and it makes it possible for them all to enjoy it without mommy having to hold on to them. all that and it only cost us 3 dollars! we had lunch with daddy at chick fil a then came home and i've put them all to bed.
bret and i have almost decide to just drive to st. louis for our mini vacation without children. it will cost about $400 for gas, food, hotel and entertainment vs. a minimum of $900 if we fly somewhere. we do have the money to do the more extravagant if we really want to, but it almost seems unjustifiable to spend that much just for 2 days of vacation and 2 days of travel. what do you all think? let me know. if we go to st. louis, we can go to six flags for free since we have a season pass. it has a hurricane harbor attached to it so we would have access to that all for no charge. we can also visit the arch which i have never seen. i mainly just want to rest and take advantage of not being responsible for a few days.
hopw you all are having a good day. i look forward to seeing some of you paducah folks on july 10th. see you soon.
