isaiah 40: 28-31

"do you not know? have you not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. he will not tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. he gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumle and fall; but hose who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

contemplations

why am i so blessed? from time to time i get very bogged down with this question. i mean, yeah, there have some things in my life i have had to deal with, (a rocky, at times, childhood, two bedrests, moving a lot, and depression along with this graves disease mess) but overall, i am so blessed. my parents are still alive, fairly healthy and together and, for the most part, happily married after 30 years, i am married to a wonderful guy who loves me and takes care of me and makes me feel safe, i have three beautiful, healthy, intelligent children. i wonder why. especially when i look around and see everyone really hurting or hurt in the past. i get to thinking, maybe God is preparing me for someting horrific. something i could only handle because i have always had it so easy. but, then i think, that doesn't really make sense. at least, i don't think that truly reflects the heart of God. He's not building me up to tear me down. today, at bible study, beth moore (via video) was talking about how God makes "beauty from ashes." she went on to say that God only sets fire to us to make us more refined and "beautiful." when we go through hardships, it brings the "ugly" of us to the top where he can skim it off and continue preparing us for something he has in store for us to do. what does God have in mind for me and you that he is preparing us for?? do any of you ever think like this?? or how do you rationalize why you have been through what you have been through and what was God doing through it? i'd love to hear from you all. love you,
summer

I think this is all part of the beautiful mystery of God. He does not will for all bad things to happen but I absolutely believe that he turns those ugly ashes into beauty. Take my parents divorce, think of all the amazing things that God wove through such an ungodly act. And during bible study Tuesday, the whole time I was thinking of Morgan Barton and what she is going through after the loss of her friend...I just hope she ALLOWS God to turn those ashes into beauty! That is what stuck out to me. It is our choice to LET him work.

God knows what it takes to build our character into something he can work with. It took alot to develop my character. I also don't believe EVERYTHING that has happened to me has been his will. I have been through a "series of unfortunate events" growing up that had alot less to do with God and alot more to do with the sinful nature of the grown-ups in my life. You were blessed to be in a Christian household, according to the Bible, those blessings will carry over to hundreds of generations!! You are in the middle of that blessing, I am right at the beginning of that 100's of generations to be blessed by God! He is so good and faithful!
