wicked, eastern time zone and weather change, one amazing husband

fall has finally reached L.A.-- lower alabama that is. it is down right cold right now and i am loving it! i made soup last night for the first time this season and then we snuggled up with blankets and watched dances with wolves on t.v. until i fell asleep. what a cozy night it was. we slept in this morning and got ready for our day trip to atlanta. some friends of ours asked us, a few months ago, if we wanted to go to the fox theater in atlanta to see wicked. at the time, we said no, because we just didn't have the money. but, bret decided that since we didn't get to celebrate our anniversary this year, because we were moving the week of our anniversary, we should do something and this would be a good thing to do. he suprised me with the idea a few weeks ago. our friends, the bloomers, kept our children for us today. we dropped them off around 10:00am and talked for a minute before starting our leisure trip to atlanta. it was supposed to take about 2 1/2 hours to drive, plus we stopped for a drink and to fill up. after drinking an entire route 44 dr. pepper, i needed a bathroom break. when i returned to the car bret proceeded to tell me, "hope you were't hungry for lunch because we aren' t going to have time to stop. " at first i was confused, until i realized he was informing me that atlanta was on EASTERN time zone and we had NOT factored that in in our travel plans!!! we were 65 miles from the fox theater and 53 minutes from showtime! well, i can only say it was a good day to have no cops on the road with us, because we actually made it in time to see the ENTIRE show! granted, we had to stand in the back for the opening scene, but we did not miss any of the show and that included parking and walking to the theater! i won't confess just how fast we drove at times, but please just say a prayer of thanks for us!!
wicked was incredible. by the end of the first act, i already wanted to rewind it and watch it again. it was wonderful in every way. the voices were brilliant with sound that filled every energy wave in the room. at times, it was so moving we were on our feet applauding before we realized it! it was completely awesome and i would pay to see it again in a heartbeat (if i had the money!) at one point i scanned the heads in front of me and saw an entire audience bobbing their heads in rhythm to the music and progression of the story. what amazed me the most was that every single "why" from the wizard of oz was answered in and "a ha" manner. it was amazing-- even better than phantom in my opinion. i definitely recommend that you see it if it comes to a city near you.
