isaiah 40: 28-31

"do you not know? have you not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. he will not tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. he gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumle and fall; but hose who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Today is the Day

well, yesterday was hard--even as hard as i thought it would be--but the sun came up again this morning. and the birds who live on my chimney continued to sing. once again, i got micah ready for school and made breakfast for my family. bret went to work and as customary on wednesday, the girls and i went to bible study.

saying good bye (or at least see you later) is really hard. but i think it is the building up until the fact that is so hard. it seems like in one sense, time is moving so slowly and that every bitter moment is lasting forever, yet you look at the calendar and there is one fewer days left to spend with that person or at the clock and find only hours remain.

i am a person who needs closure. now in this situation, not in the sense of it being over, but in the sense of and end that leads to a new beginning. last night was that. we loaded the truck, we cleaned cabinetry, floors and window seals. we lay in the floor playing with the baby. we made the grueling decision of where to partake in the "last supper", we ate, and then it was time. the time we knew had been coming for days............."i....love.....you. be careful. see you in june."

in a book this is called the catharsis. the climactic moment in which everything has been building up. it was that and so much more. on the way home, yes, i cried, but i also sat in silence and prayed. prayed for God to make it everything they dream it can be and more. for HIm to lenghten their wing span so they can fly higher and higher. and then.....

morning came. the sun rose, my chimney birds sang, micah and bret are sent off. its me and the girls doing our thing.
