that's how i always feel on monday mornings. like i need to recover from our sundays. actually yesterday was a great sunday and we are the only ones to blame for being tired. we woke at 6 yesterday to get dressed for church. we got the kids up and dressed and then they were able to give daddy his father's day gifts. they had each made him somehting at school this last week, plus, we bought him a dallas cowboys official sidelines coaching staff hat. micah was beaming with pride as he delivered the gift. he picked it out especially for daddy for fathers day. bret loved his gifts and then we were off.
church went well, only anna burst in to the auditorium during the first service and unknowingly interupted them by yelling, "daddy, where are you?" oh well, she got in trouble and i have made our apologies. i taught middle school while john and crysty are away at camp. it went well. next week i want to have some music and donuts, because it was way too quiet in there at first. i was really proud of them. even the "not so respectful" ones were really good and commented in class. i will teach next week too, so wish me luck. i like teaching them, but for some reason i have lost my confidence in teaching them. yesterday was a big boost.
we took bret to the only restaurant in the metro plex, or at least the only one we ever go to, (because we are addicted)--on the border. it was wonderful, of course. we went with our friends, the hawkins, and celebrated both dads. afterward, we went to books a million at grapevine mills. micah got a gift card from aunt cindy to use there and that is the only one in the metroplex. he had a blast and got to pick out 5 books, a coloring book and a book mark. he was very proud and began reading as soon as we got in the van. we came home around 6:30. all three kids slept on the way home. bret and i caught up on our star gates. next week is the series finale and we are very, very sad to see it go. bret made the kids cheese quesadillas and then they went to bed. we watched freedom writers, finally. we have had it three times but have yet to watch it until last night. it was really good, but very real and i just have such a hard time comprehending that kind of reality.
saturday was fun. we got up, had breakfast, did a few things around the house, i finished watching "the nativity." that movie really impacted my thoughts about the birth of Jesus. have you ever thought about how guilty mary must have look to have conceived jesus, then go away to visit elizabeth for a long visit and return great with child? she was an extremely brave and bold woman whose faith blows my mind. or, can you imagine traveling by walking and riding a donkey for days when you are nine months pregnant. or even worse, having to ride a donkey only days after delivering your first child to take him to be circumcised. oh am i glad to live in the 21st century for many reasons!!
we had the honor of seeing the arlington chorus perform their show at 2 on saturday. our friend, john, is the director of that chorus. he also sings with the vm and in the bret's quartet, makin waves. the main reason we went was because making waves was the guest quartet and they did several of their tunes. they were incredible. it was good practice before heading to denver in just a little under two weeks. we were able to have dinner with them afterward, then we headed home and they went back for one more show.
friday was a great day. we got up at 9!!!!!!!!! we had breakfast. bret did the yard and i cleaned the house. he cleaned out he garage and i did some deeper cleaning in the kitchen. then as a reward, we all went swimming at the pool to cool off. it was nice. we came back and showered.
my sisters will be here in 9 days!!!! i can't wait!!! please pray for them to have an easy trip and safe trip!!
love you all,
summer
isaiah 40: 28-31
"do you not know? have you not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. he will not tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. he gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumle and fall; but hose who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

I never cease to be amazed by the busy-ness of it all. Every May when school is out, I always seem to think I'm going to have a "breather". Why do I think this???? Summer always turns out to be even more jam-packed! And it just goes by so fast. Miss you guys!
