i noticed my purse was vibrating and looked to see who was calling. it was bret and he had called 6 times in a row. the school had called him and said that micah was running 104 temp. i was in rockwall, but just finishing up lunch after my bible study. we rushed to get micah and he was so pitiful. there he was laying on the bench shivering and red with a wet "school" paper towel on his forehead. his teacher, ms. garndner, along with the school nurse was in there with him. ms. gardner was so sweet to him. they said he got the award for the highest fever this week. i carried him to the van and brought him home. ms gardner recommended not coming back to school until ATLEAST monday. he has to be fever free without medication for 24 hours.
we got home and i gave him some ibuprophen, got him some ice water and got him changed into comfy clothes. he got into bed and i got him a cool washcloth and wiped him down. i could tell his fever was already starting to come down. i turned on his favorite cd really low and now he is sleeping. the girls went down as well. please pray for us that micah will get well soon and that none of the rest of us will get it. i think the girls had flu shots, but none of the rest of us did.
on a different note, i have to share with you all God's blatant show of work he has done in the last two days. yesterday morning i woke up feeling a very urgent need to pray with bret about some matters we are dealing with right now. (i also feel i should mention i awoke very aggitated and perturbed about nothing at all.) i really felt compelled for us to confess all of our sin and pray specifically about this certain thing. we each took time during our showers to "think through our thoughts" and prepare for our time of prayer together. before he left for work, we prayed. i told him i felt so bad because other than my irritation and anger deal, i couldn't think of any sin in my life---i know you are thinking what a piece of bologna. bret began to ask me about some areas in my life. no, no, not that. he asked was i discipling anyone right now. i stopped and i thought, other than the kids, no. but i don't come in contact with anyone other than christians at church and bible study. i mean, i am nice to people in the grocery check out, but other than that i don't come in contact with people. he said, well maybe not getting out and meeting and discipling people is your sin. i thought, how can that be my sin (prideful i know. this is all just dripping with pride. i'm ashamed, really) so we prayed and i confessed about my temper, pride, vanity and not discipling people and asked if God would purify my heart and help me find ways to overcome each of these areas.
fast forward to today. biblestudy--at lake pointe--not my home church, just a local mega church. i am picking up anna and bekah from thier classes after it is over and getting ready to go home. i run into a woman i have passed a couple of times who recently moved to rockwall and i know has had a really difficult time adjusting. she walked right up to me (we weren't talking or anything) and asked if we would have lunch with them at chick fil a. woa. i was planning to go home, but i saw angels wings fluttering and an almost audible voice from God. i said sure. we really connected. she has had a hard past, but is really trying to to a good job raisng her girls. her oldest daughter, 9 yrs., is going to be baptized on feb. 24 and she (the daughter) invited me to that event.
you may think i sound way too amazed at this. i asked God to give me a chance to meet people and disciple and he offered an opportunity a mere 24 hous later. if you are struggling with something or maybe like me you don't think you are stuggling at all, i challenge to pour it out to God and ask him to use the Holy Spirit to convict you of your sin. careful, he may use your husband to tell you your sin. it was not easy coming from bret, but it was true. we have a God who just needs to be asked. he wants to show you his Glory. just ask him to let you see it!
isaiah 40: 28-31
"do you not know? have you not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. he will not tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. he gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumle and fall; but hose who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
