well, it is official. my husband is 32. he worked on monday. i had a pta meeting that night and he had a practice, so we met at 7 for dinner at our favorite restaurant. they serenaded him and gave him divine dessert. afterward we cam home and put the kiddos to bed. he stayed home tuesday so we could celebrate his birthday and will work on friday this week. we had fun on tuesday and i let him get his dream toy--a playstation 3. the only catch is that he has to sell all his other game consoles and games on ebay to help pay for it. he had a ton of fun playing that afternoon. he cleaned out the garage and took down the christmas decorations that evening while i made his birthday supper and birthday cake. afterward we watched The Guardian. it was really good.
micah got a straight face (out of a possible smiley, straight, or sad face) on his daily behavior report yesterday. he got one other once before on the day before they got out for christmas break, but she said a lot of kids got one on that day. this time it was for not following directions. we had calm talk about respect and expectations. he lost video game and tv privileges for the night. he was cut to the heart. before putting hime to bed, i was praying with him and tickling and talking to him. i told him, like i do many times, i'll always love you no matter what. he asked me, "even if i ever got a sad face?" yes, i told him. "even if you got a sad face." he gave me a huge hug and went to sleep.
grace is so precious. i am so thankful my God loves me enough to teach me and make me better, yet gives me grace freely when i fall short. all the while he loves me unconditionally and i pray i can convey that kind of love to my children.
isaiah 40: 28-31
"do you not know? have you not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. he will not tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. he gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumle and fall; but hose who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
